As we approach the end of the semester, Her Campus at Emmanuel wants to put a spotlight on our graduating members. I had the opportunity to talk to Julianna (JuJu) Simmons on her time at Emmanuel and within Her Campus.
What is your major and minor?
Biology with a health science concentration.Â
Why did you join Her Campus?Â
I joined Her Campus to interact with other women, since I am not a major writer myself. But if I did have the urge to write, then to tell my stories.Â
What’s your favorite article you’ve written?Â
My favorite article I have written was about my 22nd birthday because it allowed me to share my sense of humor. Read it here!
What will you miss most about Emmanuel?Â
What I will miss most about Emmanuel is the campus events, opportunities, and most importantly the friendships I’ve made since many people are not within a 30 minute drive.
Do you have any advice for incoming freshmen?
My advice for first years is to take your time because everyone else is (and has been) in your shoes. For me, I had trouble adjusting to college because I was rushing to make new friends and I was not used to the pace with how things were going.Â
How about advice for rising seniors?
For rising seniors, it is 100% okay to not know what you want to do yet. I became uncertain about what I wanted to do from the career options that networking panels, lectures showered me with.
Anything else you’d like to say or tell the world?
Something that I would like to tell the world is that everything that is meant to be will be guided to you. Meaning that everything happens for a reason and the universe has a plan in store for you. If you get disappointed that is okay since it will help you in the long run by realizing that thing was not meant for you.
JuJu will be so missed at our weekly meetings and events, but we are so proud of her! She always brings a good story or joke that lights up the room. We wish her the best of luck in navigating life after Emmanuel!
