I’m sure many people have a bucket list of places they would love to visit in their lifetime. Whether it be in the U.S. or internationally, there are so many adventures and things waiting for you outside your hometown. I’ve been lucky enough to visit many dream states, including Texas, South Carolina, Tennessee, New York, and others.
As summer approaches, I’ve started dreaming about places I’d love to visit that are much farther away. Here’s that list, in case you need ideas for your next dream destination.
- Bangkok, Thailand
-
Bangkok, Thailand, has always been at the top of my list for its beautiful landscapes, culture, and food. One of the foods I’ve always wanted to try is Luk Chup because it looks absolutely amazing.
During the summer season, Thailand also becomes the host of many festivals, one being Songkran. I keep seeing it all over my For You Page, and it’s been a dream of mine to go for years now. It’s a traditional Thai New Year festival and is celebrated in mid-April.
My dream would also be to visit the night markets and explore all the different items offered. I’d love to people-watch and observe all the different landscapes that Bangkok has to offer, such as Dusit Central Park. As a collectible girly, I also would love to visit the Hirono Floating Market there, as it is four stories high.
- Mykonos, Greece
-
Going to Mykonos, Greece, would be living out one of my dreams. First of all, I think it’s safe to say that Mykonos is known for its beautiful landscape, beaches, and towns. A couple of things on my bucket list have been obviously swimming in the clear blue oceans, but also trying Greek food, as I’ve never tried it (I know I need to).
It would also be amazing to simply walk through the beautiful town and alleys plastered in white architecture and splashes of vibrant colors, then end the day by watching the sun set over the ocean. Also, of course, a trip to Greece would give major Mamma Mia vibes.
- Cancún, Mexico
-
I always love visiting Mexico. I’m Mexican-American and have visited my dad’s hometown in Irapuato a couple of times, where I loved being absorbed in the culture I grew up with. Although it’s nice getting to visit my family and see where my dad grew up, I’ve never been to the more touristy places in Mexico, such as Cancun. It’s always been a dream of mine, though.
When I search for videos and look at images of Cancun, all I can think about is that beautiful crystal water and how much I’d love to be swimming in it now. Nevertheless, I’m not, but a girl can dream. I’d love to go snorkeling in the ocean and visit a cenote, a natural sinkhole, to enjoy a day of swimming and snorkeling. I also want to visit one of the many parks that have zip lining and cave exploration.
- Sydney, Australia
-
One thing I’ve always wanted to try is surfing. Although we can technically surf in Florida with its many surfing classes and waves to catch, I feel like it would be a different experience in Australia. Of course, I would also love to visit Bondi Beach, the Sydney Harbor Bridge, and the Sydney Opera House.
Listen, I’m very, and I mean very, terrified of the Sydney funnel web spider because they are extremely dangerous, but the beauty of Australia and everything it has to offer makes me want to book that flight anyway. I grew up in places like Homestead, Miami, and the Keys, so I’ve always been surrounded by oceans and sharks. The crocodiles don’t scare me either, but if I see a spider, I’m running.
- London, United Kingdom
-
London fills my heart when I think of it. First of all, one of my favorite movies of all time, Paddington, is set and filmed there, and there are several Paddington-themed benches around that I’d love to visit. Also notable fandoms that reside there are One Direction, Notting Hill, and Harry Potter.
There are also so many different things to see and visit in London. Personally, I’d love a slow-paced trip exploring the different shops and cafes while buying stationery and browsing the streets. However, I’d also love to visit Big Ben, the British Museum, Buckingham Palace, and a market.
All in all, there’s so much adventure beyond what we know, and so many beautiful things to do and see. I hope to one day make some of these dreams a reality and see beautiful landscapes and cultures from around the world, and I hope that you will too.
