As a current junior at the University of Michigan, I’d like to think I have tried out many of the best spots to eat here in Ann Arbor, so here’s a list of some of my favorites that I’ve discovered this semester!

Frita Batidos

One of my new faves has to be Frita Batidos on Washington Street! I don’t know how I managed not to try this place out during my first two years in Ann Arbor, but I am so glad I finally did! Their food is Cuban and features Cuban burgers, with fries on top (a frita) and Cuban milkshakes (batidos), which are a mix of fruit and ice cream. I tried their black bean burger and lime batido, and they were both amazing. It’s a bit of a walk from campus, but definitely a must-try!

Sadako

Another great place I discovered this semester was Sadako, which is a great sushi place right on South University! They have a huge menu of both sushi and other types of food for those who might not be in the mood for sushi. I personally really like their “Michigan roll” and their “Spicy tuna roll,” and their food is super affordable for an easy and quick dinner with friends or family. The quality is great!

Hola Seoul

I also recently tried out Hola Seoul at East University, right across the street from the Kinesiology building, and super close to many other classroom buildings. Hola Seoul is a more casual place that has a menu featuring South Korean and Mexican fusion! Their bulgogi and fish tacos are so so good and also super affordable and fast for when you’re grabbing lunch between classes! They also have bento box options, which have a bunch of different options to choose from that I definitely want to try next time I go!

Raising Cane’s

Last but not least, I feel like I have to mention Canes, which just opened up on South University here on campus. Though Canes is very popular, I do have to admit that the food is actually really good! The first couple of days it was open, I chose not to go to avoid the line, but I was pretty excited to go for the first time, and it did not disappoint! The Texas toast they have and the iconic “Canes sauce” are worth the hype and the atmosphere and service are always great!

I hope this gave you some new inspo for where to eat here in Ann Arbor and that you enjoy these fun places as much as I do! Go Blue!
