My favorite time of year has arrived! This season brings me a lot of joy. I love looking at the beautiful decorations, listening to cheerful music, sipping hot chocolate, and enjoying the cool weather. With many events to choose from if you’re in Austin this December, these festive activities are definitely worth checking out!

1. Austin Trail of Lights

The renowned Austin Trail of Lights returns to Zilker Park from December 10th to 23rd. Each year, it attracts visitors from central Texas and beyond. It’s a great event to enjoy with family and friends, offering plenty of photo opportunities. Visitors can indulge in food trucks, hot cocoa, or drinks from the bar while walking the trail. There are various stops for s’mores, as well as attractions such as a carousel, a Ferris wheel, and local entertainment at the Zilker stage. Visit the website for more details and the event calendar!

2. PEPPERMINT Parkway

One of my favorite activities, as a Formula One fan, is visiting the Peppermint Parkway at Circuit of the Americas! It now offers a walk-through experience with lights, dancing, tasty treats, activities, and much more. Additional options include cruising around the F1 track, which I personally enjoy, to get a feel for what it is like to be a driver.

3. Austin Ballet – The Nutcracker

If you love ballet, this is for you. The Nutcracker is returning for its 63rd annual production, offering a stunning performance! It includes festive sets, costumes, and live music by the Austin Symphony Orchestra. The show consists of two 50-minute acts with a 20-minute intermission.

4. Zach Theater Holiday Plays

Enjoy classic holiday favorites like A Christmas Carol, available from November 19th to January 3rd, and A Charlie Brown Christmas, airing from November 7th to December 28th. I loved A Christmas Carol and look forward to watching it again, but I am particularly excited to experience A Charlie Brown Christmas for the first time!

5. Mozart’s Austin Festival of Lights

This year’s theme is “Heaven and Nature Sing.” Join Mozart for its Holiday Market, featuring coffee, Christmas lights, and performances by the McKenna Michels Holiday Band and the Floki Fire Dancers! There is even a partnership with Austin Rental Boats to showcase lights and attractions directly on Lake Austin for you to enjoy. Check out their website for more information and upcoming events!

6. Luminations – LBJ Wildflower Center

Enjoy light-up garden paths, live music, hot chocolate, and churros. It is such a beautiful time for photos! It will be available between December 5th and January 3rd!

There are many other events near Austin worth attending; these are just the ones I recommend! The Christmas season is an ideal time to go out with friends and family and create enjoyable, memorable moments!
