Thanksgiving Break is here, which means it’s time to embrace the holiday spirit, spend time with family, and catch up with hometown friends. If you are looking for things to do either by yourself or with friends and family, here are some ideas!
Declutter your wardrobe
Now that winter is approaching, it’s the perfect time to take a quick glance at your closet to see if there is anything in there that you no longer wear or that you may have forgotten about.
In a time where overconsumption is taking over our daily lives, it can be easy to forget about a cute sweater you bought last year that’s buried under a mountain of clothes from this past summer. See if you can find something to wear this season before heading out to buy new clothes during Black Friday. Also, try to create a pile of clothes you could donate or regift to someone this holiday season. Your space will become decluttered, and it will encourage you to purchase less and give more.
Gratitude journaling and crafts
As I’ve spent time away from home by being at school, I’ve become more grateful for the time I get to spend with my family.
Last year, I developed the habit of keeping a daily log of what I am grateful for. The holidays are a great time to try out this activity and reflect on what you are thankful for. You can journal about what you are grateful for, or you could turn it into a craft, like drawing images to represent what you are thankful for in a creative way.
Try a cozy hobby
As the temperature outside continues to drop, it’s essential to find ways to bring warmth and coziness to ourselves, both physically and emotionally. I love working on large jigsaw puzzles during the holidays, and they are fun to work on with family and friends while watching a movie. The ambiance that comes with fall and winter inspires me to write more. Challenge yourself to respond to a creative writing prompt or try writing a poem. Just grab a pen and see what happens!
Watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade
It’s a tradition for my family to watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade every year on Thanksgiving morning. It has wonderfully cozy and nostalgic vibes, with live performances and Christmas music to truly kick off the Christmas season.
I hope you have a relaxing Thanksgiving break with your favorite people. Remember to take time to rest, and be thankful for yourself in the process!
