Midterm season can be stressful, and one way that I like to de-stress is baking. This year of college, I got the opportunity to live in an apartment, which is an improvement from living in the dorms, where you’re sharing multiple resources and rooms (such as a kitchen) with many people. This year, I have my own kitchen and am very excited to start using it, as I love to bake and it gives me an outlet so I can be in a calm place after midterms. Especially this fall, there are so many great desserts that I’m thrilled to start baking, since they resonate with the season.

Pumpkin is one of my favorite flavors to use and eat during this time, as it embodies the season of fall. This can be a very overrated flavor to some, but I truly love pumpkin-flavored coffees, chais, and desserts. The first pumpkin-flavored desserts on the list are a pumpkin spice muffin (which I love to bake, especially with cream cheese filling), pumpkin spice cookies with chocolate chips, and lastly a pumpkin spice cinnamon roll with pumpkin icing. These three pumpkin flavor desserts are some of my favorites to make during fall.

Next, I have some more non-pumpkin flavored recommendations that still give those fall vibes. These desserts are much more popular during the fall season, whether they’re store-bought or homemade, and are some of the best desserts to make when trying to de-stress. The first is carrot cake with buttercream icing, the second is a coffee cinnamon bread loaf, the third is oatmeal cookies, and last is a very popular fall dessert: apple pie.

These fall dessert recipes can be found on the internet very easily, whether they are on a blog post, on the back of ingredients that are store-bought, or through a video on YouTube that guides me through every step of the baking process. Some are easier to bake than others, but during the time I bake, I’m able to forget about the crazy workload I have in the coming weeks, and the many midterms I’ve had to submit.

Overall, I am very excited to be able to bake these treats in a quiet and calm environment. Once they’re finished, I’ll have the reward of eating these delicious desserts as I take a bite into the fall season.
