3 Travel Tips For This Holiday Season

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Texas chapter.

With the holidays coming up, almost everyone is getting ready to travel. Whether you’re going back home to visit family or about to embark on a fun vacation, here are some things that have helped me feel less stressed while traveling.

  1. Make a Packing List

For me, a travel game-changer has been making a basic packing list template in a Google Doc and copy-pasting it into a new document to update quantities of clothes or add items I need for a certain trip. For example, I created a new Thanksgiving packing list a few weeks ago by simply copy-pasting my template and modifying it to meet my needs for that trip, like packing extra sweaters. This is a super easy way to ensure you have everything you need and aren’t stressed packing last minute.

  1. Get to the Airport Early

Seriously, if you’re flying, make sure to arrive at the airport early! I always try to get there about 2 hours before my flight, so there’s some cushion time in case anything goes wrong. Plus, you have extra time to get some snacks before taking off.

  1. Safety is Key

As someone who travels alone often, I always make sure to share my location with someone I trust, like a parent or a close friend, when I’m in an Uber or waiting at the airport. I will also usually text a friend or my mom to update them on how I’m doing and let them know if anything about my flight changes while I’m there. This just makes me feel safer and more confident overall about my experience.

I hope you find these tips helpful and have a smooth travel experience this holiday!
