I feel like it’s really hard to learn how to cope with a lot of things, so I thought that I would show a little vulnerability, and give you some of the ways I cope with anxiety. I am not a professional, but I do hope that you can gain some insight into some things that might help you! So, without further ado, I would like to present to you my five coping mechanisms for my anxiety.

1. Breathe

If you’re like me you’re clenching your jaw right now reading this and holding your breath. The fastest way I have learned to give myself some relief is to breathe! It helps me process my emotions and my surroundings. Plus more oxygen means a calmer mind.

2. Go Outside

I know I know…I get it…this is cliche, but it works! I’ve always fussed about this idea and never wanted to do it because taking a walk never seemed like it could drastically change my mood. However, once I started implementing it in my life not only was I less anxious but I was also less sad. I totally recommend it!

3. Take a shower

There is nothing more soothing than a warm relaxing shower. It’s perfect to just feel the warmth of the water. Plus sometimes we need a good shower cry. It’s honestly the one place I feel like I can just work through and rinse away my worries for a fresh start. Shower time is definitely reflection and relief time.

4. Food & Water

Do you know how people get grumpy when they’re hungry? Well, I noticed that I also get more anxious when I’m hungry or thirsty. It is so important to nourish your body and sometimes we forget. Therefore sometimes I know I just need a little snack and I will be okay.

5. Gym Time

Going to the gym is my favorite thing to do in any mood whether that’s happy, sad, anxious, or mad. It’s honestly been so rewarding to watch myself grow in strength and love for my body. Plus it helps me get my mind off of what’s been bothering me. It’s probably because the gym makes me work and it’s grueling but hey it’s all for the greater good!

That’s it. These are super easy, no money is required for relief. Nevertheless, while these are my coping mechanisms for the anxiety mosquitoes, I hope that you can use some of my methods to help you with your own worries. Stay safe out there and remember you are loved!
