Being a student can be really difficult sometimes. Managing your time and money, getting your work done well and on time, is a lot. Over my four years at Laurier, I have compiled several websites I use to help me out with my papers and with just arranging my life.
Grammarly is one that saves my life with basically every project I do because I really cannot spell. It makes sure that your spelling and grammar are correct and that your sentences make sense. With Grammarly, you can use the basic free plan, or you can also pay for the premium plan that gives you even more editing sources.
Zotero is a free extension you can download onto your browser that will help create accurate APA citations for any links that you input. It makes it a little easier when you are rushing to get the reference page on your paper done.
Owl Purdue is a website run by Purdue University that gives easy-to-follow instructions on how to cite just about anything you could possibly need to cite. It’s much easier to use sites like Zotero to do regular journal article references but Owl Purdue is great for obscure sources like citing YouTube videos, really old articles or physical paper sources.
I live off of Rate My Professor, it has helped me pick classes basically every semester. I really recommend that with any class you are signing up for, read the professor’s reviews. It will often have reviews that talk about what the professor marks and what assessments are like. It can give you insight into whether you should pick a different class to be successful or if having that professor will be beneficial to you.
This website is a little sketchy but overall, a great resource where you can find free PDFs of hundreds of different textbooks. For any textbook a professor says you need to buy, always check to see if you can find it here first.
Mint is an awesome site for managing your money. Mint is able to show you all your spending information in one place and it is great for helping you plan out your budget and manage how much you’re spending.
Flipp is great for grocery shopping. It can be used as a website or downloaded as an app and shows your flyers for all the major grocery stores and where you can find sales that week. It can also be used to price-match sale prices in some stores.
Honey is another extension you can download onto your browser, and it goes through all the online coupons that exist for whatever online store you are shopping at and lets you know which coupon will give you the best discount.
This website allows you to upload your notes it will analyze them and create practice questions for you. It is a really great resource for studying for tests!
