We sat under my neon lights 

Twirling our fingers on the dented mattress 

Joking and getting distracted from the topic at hand.

The night I finally got you; 

You presented me with a canvas 

A canvas with a lot of meaning 

It showed your efforts 

I knew you cared

The night we’d been waiting for was finally there.

The night I finally got you 

Was when I held you tight 

No regret, no remorse, no more guilt to force.

I can’t think of anything more vivid to me 

Than the night I finally got you

And you were mine to be.
