The moment we’ve been waiting for has finally arrived—Nike has released the Elite Basketball Collection, a line of basketball apparel designed by women for women.
The brand recruited a team of professional female basketball players from various WNBA teams to help with the task. These women included Elena Delle Donne, Skylar Diggins, Chiney Ogwumike and Sue Bird. The University of Connecticut women’s basketball team also joined in on the project.
In a statement released by Chris Burke, Nike Basketball Global Basketball Apparel Director, he said, “We did a lot of focus groups with both high school and professional basketball players from across the country to make sure we were creating the right styles and incorporating the wants and needs for the female athlete.”
For the time being, the collection is made up of just four pieces: a mesh hoodie, tapered pants, lightweight shorts, and a flexible tank. However, all are extremely versatile and available now on the Nike website.
