Arguably the worst time of the year, January rolls around like a wrecking ball. Christmas is gone for another year, your bank account is depleted from buying presents, it’s freezing, and even the snow that was once pretty and white is now grey and sad-looking. It’s a rough month for nearly everyone, so here are 5 ways to fight off those January blues.

1) Baths and Bath Bombs

When it’s so frigid and windy outside, what better way to warm up than with a hot bath? Get some feeling back into your toes and take an hour or so to pamper yourself. Try out a new bath bomb, learn how to make your own sugar scrub, or release your inner-child on a good old bubble bath!

2) Hot Drinks

There’s nothing better than curling up in a fluffy blanket with a book or your boyfriend (and by boyfriend, I mean Netflix) and your favorite hot beverage. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate, you name it: cozy drinks make for cozy evenings. Spice it up by making a hot cocoa bar with your friends!

3) Use the Cold Weather to Your Advantage

Rather than hiding from the snow and ice, make it work for you! Hit the slopes on the weekends, go sledding, give ice skating a try! With all the wonderful activities the colder months have to offer, why let them go to waste?

4) Invest in Some Good Sweaters

Getting to class at this time of year can be an absolute nightmare with the sidewalks covered in icy death-traps and the wind biting your cheeks with every gust. Layer up with some cozy sweaters and no longer fear stepping out the door!

5) Surround Yourself with Good People

It can be easy to want to stay in bed and hide from the world but that will only make the blues worse. Put together a study group for a productive social outlet, schedule date nights with your special someone, just don’t let yourself become a recluse because of some dreary month!

Hopefully this helps to remind you that January and Winter aren’t all bad and that the seasonal blues don’t have to become your sullen roommate! Happy January Collegiettes!
