6 Ways to Save Your Skin from Stress

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SCAD ATL chapter.

After a couple weeks into the quarter, we pretty much live at school.  From busy days of classes and work to late nights doing projects and assignments, it becomes difficult to remember to take time for yourself.  If you’re anything like me, by the time you can finally go to bed the last thing on your mind is an elaborate skincare routine.  Looking in the mirror at the end of the week to find that your skin is just as stressed as the rest of you is not fun.  Here are 6 ways to keep your skin glowing in times of stress:

1. Sheet Masks:

Sheet masks rock and there are ones specifically designed for basically any skincare need.  The ones for brightening and hydration are especially great when you haven’t gotten much sleep.  A major bonus to sheet masks is that they are not that expensive.  TONYMOLY sheet masks and the Face Shop’s the Solution sheet masks run about $3 each.  Another great option is the Dr. Jart+ face masks.  These do run a bit pricier than the other ones I mentioned from about $7.50-$15.00 on Sephora, but they’re great.  These are so easy to use; there is no mess involved and once you’ve had it on for long enough you just take the sheet off and massage whatever product is left into your face, and you’re good to go.

2. Under-Eye Care is Key:

Using an eye cream morning and night can make such a huge difference.  During the day, carrying eye rollers can be a simple fix to brighten up your under-eyes.  Eye patches are also great for helping with the bags under your eyes and dark circles; and like sheet masks, they are super easy and mess-free.

3. Overnight Masks:

These keep your skin hydrated like no other.  These types of masks are different because you put them on after washing and moisturizing your face to lock in all the moisture on your face.  Leave it on overnight, wash it off in the morning, and trust me, your skin will be thanking you.  Two great options are the Laneige Water Sleeping Mask and theOlay Regenerist Luminous Overnight Mask

4. Drink lots and lots of water

It is so important for healthy skin to keep yourself hydrated.  There are several apps that you can download that are meant to help you remember to drink water, which are great if you get too busy to remember to drink water. It’s also a good idea to carry a water bottle with you so you don’t have to keep going back to the water fountain or buy a bottle.

5. Take vitamins

There’s obviously a large number of vitamins to choose from and it’s important to choose the ones that specifically work for you.  The Flawless+Fearless Hum vitamins are amazing for keeping skin clear and Hum also has a large variety to choose from.  Take Hum’s quiz to help you determine which ones you should take.

6. Sleep.

Sleep as much as you can to keep your skin happy.   Obviously late nights are an inevitability in college, but when you have the chance it is never a bad idea to grab a few extra hours of sleep, whether you take a nap, go to bed early, or find time to sleep in a bit.

Just because school is stressful doesn’t mean skincare has to be.  Whether you’ve been up late working, or binging your favorite Netflix show, these tips can revive your tired skin.
