Congratulations! You survived spring semester and now you are rewarded with three months of pure summer vacation bliss. Summer is meant to be spent lounging around by the pool, taking road trips with your friends and allowing yourself to rejuvenate before the fall semester rolls around. But not everyone enjoys spending their time doing mindless activities and letting their days go by without an ounce of productivity. For the collegiette who’s determined to have a productive summer vacation, read on for ways to make the most out of your time for the next three months.
Get yourself a job
If you don’t have a job by now, do your bank account a favor and start working. Whether or not you need the money, having a steady flow of cash coming in is rewarding. It also gives your days purpose so they aren’t completely wasted on Netflix and lounging around at home.
…but don’t forget to take a day to yourself once in awhile
Summer isn’t meant for all work and no play! Take some of the money you earned and spend it on a spa day with your friends or buy yourself some new summer outfits. Don’t let yourself get caught up in a whirlwind of work without allowing yourself to enjoy your time away from school. Working too much will lead to a burn out, which is the last thing you need when you’re too busy slaying like the fabulous collegiette you are.
Make a daily or weekly list of tasks to accomplish
The key to getting things done is writing them down. We all love the feeling of crossing off every item on a to-do list. Seeing the progress you’ve made will motivate you to keep going! Start small with your goals and work your way up to the larger ones to ensure that the small achievements push you to go for the larger victories.
Get active
For the girls who hate spending their precious time sweating it up at the gym, there are plenty of other ways to get physical this summer. Taking a dip in the pool, going for a walk around the neighborhood, or even doing laps around Sephora are great ways to get in your endorphins without being at the gym.
Get enough rest
Sure, everyone needs their fair share of late nights during the summer, because when else is the perfect time to do it? But on the nights that you aren’t out late adventuring with your friends, treat yourself to a good night’s sleep. Rest is something we tend to compromise when we’re at school, so take the time to replenish your sleep schedule when you can so you’re ready to tackle the days ahead of you.
Splurge on one thing you really want to do
If you’ve been dreaming of spending a week at the beach with your girls or if you really want to treat yourself to a summer-inspired manicure and pedicure, do it! Summer is the time to do things for yourself. And if you’re feeling content, your productiveness will skyrocket.
