Don’t want to spend any money on a costume this Halloween? Here are just a few ideas for cute, easy DIY costumes.

1. Kitty Cat

Everyone has been a cat at least once in his or her life. But dressing up as some kind of animal is super easy! Yes, its typical but it works for a quick outfit you can put together before going out to the party. You want to be a black cat? Wear all black. Wear something cheetah or leopard print to be a big cat. You could also dress as a bunny. And don’t forget the mouse option (Duh!) Classic Mean Girls.

2. Hippie

Channel your inner hippie this Halloween and dress like you’re from the 70s. Dressing like a hippie is easy. You can wear any kind of maxi skirt, one with a flowery print on it or some other funky design. Harem pants would work too. You can wear a crop top, tie-dye or any shirt you feel would match the hippie vibe. Part your hair in the middle maybe just this once and top off the costume with a pair of heart sunglasses. A flower crown is a great accessory too! And they’re easy to make at home with some wire, glue and fake flowers.

3. Witch

Want to go a little to the dark side of Halloween this year? Be a witch. All you need is anything black – a maxi skirt, an LBD, and black boots. If you don’t want to buy a cheap hat, make one yourself! Here is a link if you have a little bit of time. If you have a black felt hat, wear that instead! Here is a site for an easier DIY hat.

4. Schoolgirl

A schoolgirl, hot teacher, or a sexy librarian are other easy costumes that you can wear clothes you already have. Tights, heels, skirts, even a dress with a cardigan could work for these costumes. You could carry around one of your books or a clipboard. Tuck a pen or pencil behind your ear and you’ll be set.

5. Your Favorite TV Character

Pick your favorite character from a movie or TV show. You could be Katniss from The Hunger Games, or Piper from Orange is the New Black. All you have to do for that is wear all orange. Dressing as Katniss could be perfect for you if you have long hair to braid. Wear leggings and some kind of black tight long sleeve, plus boots. Who likes Zooey Deschanel? Dress up as Jessica Day from New Girl. Tights, flats, skirts, and a blouse or striped shirt are probably somewhere in your closet. Get a pair of glasses as your accessory and you’re good to go!
