Why did you choose GMU?
I knew I wanted to go to the East coast because it was something different, and I really liked the campus. Out of the other schools I visited I pictured myself here, doing the whole day to day thing and that made my decision easy. Also, I knew a couple of people from high school that went here, and it was a way of making a big change but having the familiarity of hometown friends at the same time.
Why did you decide to major in Art?
It’s always been something I’m passionate about because it’s a strong point and talent of mine, and I want to be able to utilize that one day in a professional setting by way of art therapy. It’s a newer form of therapy because of how expressive it allows people to be with their problems or addictions. I express myself through art, so I therefore can easily relate to people who feel the same and have a better understanding of their needs to help them get better.
What are your top 5 things you do to de-stress at school?
Art, working out, spending time with friends, listening to music and sleeping.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Definitely working in a drug rehab as an art therapist, whilst simultaneously pursuing a higher degree and maybe dating someone but having fun at the same time. I’ll still be young!
If you could live anywhere in the world for the rest of your life, where would you choose?
Somewhere in South America because it’d be a cool experience to be surrounded by a completely different culture and bounce from country to country exploring all aspects. The history is very intriguing, and I have always been interested in the Incan civilization and all that’s indigenous to South America in general.
What is one attribute you think you bring to the GMU community?
I think I am passionate and actively involved in everything I choose to do, and I play a heavy hand in all that I take on.
