NOVA Valentine’s Day Date Guide

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at George Mason University chapter.

Looking for a Valentine’s Day to remember? Forget the classic dinner and a movie combo. Check out some of the unique date ideas for every type of couple.

1. For the foodies

You know all of those Tasty recipe videos you saved on Facebook? Now is your chance to try them! Go shopping for all the ingredients and cook a meal together. If you somehow burn it or realize cooking is too much work, order a pizza. Either way, you’ll be spending time together! If you’d prefer a classic restaurant date, try something a bit out of the box. Iron Age in Centerville is an all you can eat Korean BBQ restaurant where the food is cooked on your table. It’s a hidden secret of Northern Virginia and the brisket is to die for.

2. For the nature lovers

Bundle up, pack a picnic and visit the local battlefields to see all nature has to offer during winter. If you prefer a warmer option, travel down Skyline drive around sunset for some spectacular views. Stop in Haymarket for gourmet cupcakes at Cupcake Heaven & Café.

3. For the adventurous

Looking for an unconventional, adrenaline-filled date? Check out one of the iFLY centers that have popped up around Northern Virginia. Experience skydiving without actually jumping out of a plane! If you prefer to stay on two feet, go for a classic date at one of the only roller skating rinks left in Northern Virginia. Skate and Fun Zone is hosting their annual Sweetheart’s Skate on February 12th with a $12.50 admission including skate rental.

4. For the artists

Muse Paint Bar let’s you try out your artistic talents on a variety on canvases, wine glasses, and wooden panels. You also go home with a personalized memory from the date. They have couples painting sessions February 11th-14th. The Torpedo Factory in Alexandria has special Valentine’s Day events now through the 14th featuring local artists on the Potomac waterfront. The museum is surrounded by multiple seafood restaurants and tap houses for the perfect romantic dinner.

Whether it’s your first date or your long-time Valentine, any of these dates will surely make it a special day to remember.
