Fiesta Latina: Bringing Latin Vibes to Cal Lutheran

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Cal Lutheran chapter.

Everyone knows about Cal Lutheran’s Spring Formal, which is happening in April. But there’s another dance that all Cal Lutheran students should know about: Fiesta Latina! Fiesta Latina has been put together by CLU L.A.S.O which is the Latina American Student Organization at Cal Lutheran. The dance happened on Saturday March 17 and it was open to all Cal Lutheran students. Jalisco’s Mobile Taco Grill was present and provided food for the first 100 people! The meal from Jalisco’s included tacos, rice, beans, and horchata. Fiesta Latina was the first ever, and not the last, Latin themed school dance. D.J. Roweezy played cumbia, reggaeton, salsa, merengue, batchata, banda and much more for everyone to dance to.

Thank you to all those who attended the event and supported L.A.S.O!

But what is L.A.S.O? Carina Perez, one of the Co-Presidents, said that L.A.S.O’s purpose is to bring awareness of the Latin culture to the Cal Lutheran campus through their cultural events, where they make everyone who wants to learn more about the culture feel welcome and intends to make Latinx students feel like they have others they can relate to on campus. For Carina, personally, L.A.S.O has given her a sense of belonging. The club has made her proud of the Latin community on campus. However, you do not have to be Latinx to join L.A.S.O!
