Hats, Gloves and Scarves

Winter can be bitter, but we say bring it on—so long as it means stylish outerwear accessories. And from fingertip fashions to cashmere hats and chunky knit scarves, there are quite a few to pile on. To stay on-trend and avoid getting lost beneath the bulk, here are some quick tips to staying warm and avoid looking like your 7th grade Social Studies teacher.

Stay neutral.
Try a rich cashmere scarf in a neutral grey or camel. They look great with just about all coats and are guaranteed to keep you warm.

Seasonal Shades

It’s a getting a bit colder outside as winter fast approaches, making it a perfect time to warm yourself up to the finer things in life—Lululemon leggings, knee high boots, Pashmina scarves, leather gloves, Ralph Lauren sweaters. However, yearlong accessories such as oversized iced coffees and sunglasses are always a must.

Whether you’re an oversized aviators kind of gal, the iconic Wayfarer wearer, sassy vintage, classic cat eyes, to the new Tom’s collection or Tory Burch’s fall line, we all have our go-to glasses. For a lot of us, it’s fun to take those fabulous runway fashions and make them our own, and as Tim Gunn would say, “Make it work”. Whatever the sunglass choice, each pair added a pop of personality and elegance to every autumn look.

Fall at DePauw

Fall at DePauw
Stacey Way ‘13

From Fall weddings to Thanksgiving and Halloween, Autumn is a favorite season among many DePauw girls. There’s little that’s more beautiful than driving down 231 after Fall Break and seeing all the trees change to burnt red, deep orange, and bright yellow. Whether you’re a fan of Starbuck’s Pumpkin Spice latté or can’t wait to bust out the leather boots and thick sweaters, we all have our favorite part of the season. A rising trend this year is making the hike out to apple orchards and pumpkin farms. Anderson Orchards, located at 369 East Greencastle Road in Mooresville, has already become a favorite frequented by lots of DePauw girls this season. They have everything from every apple imaginable to pumpkins big and small, including the miniature “Wee-Be-Littles” and even raspberry bushes. If you find yourself sitting indoors and admiring nature’s beauty from a far, grab a friend and head over. Aside from the 150+ acres of beautiful walking, Anderson Orchards also has a concession-style stand in their barn that serves AWESOME hot cider, warm pumpkin bread, homemade candles, and more.

Toting pumpkins for carving or decoration, they’re an easy decoration as table centerpieces and front porches.

Athletes Attract

9/27/2011

Being in a relationship at a small school like DePauw can be tough sometimes, but can be even tougher when both partners are super busy. Some students have a demanding class schedule or heavy workload, but they’re able to make up for it on the weekends or celebrate right after that big exam they’ve been studying long nights for all week. But what happens when you can’t hang out after that big commitment that’s kept you from seeing boy toy all week? Or neither of you are even on campus until late Sunday night? If you haven’t guessed already, we’re referring to the dedicated athletes here at DePauw who manage to make their relationships work, despite both of them being on Varsity athletic teams. From both partners being on the soccer team to field hockey and football player romance, athletes in love have to find the perfect mix of time management and creativity to maintain that healthy spark.
