Feel Inspired to Workout!

4/12/2012

Spring is in the air! When is a better time to get in shape than now? Motivating yourself to workout might be the hardest part, but once you get a workout going, you’re sure to feel better. Don’t just think about getting in shape—live in the moment and make it fun! Here are 5 tips on how to motivate yourself to workout.

1. Find a buddy.
Not only does this make exercise a fun social event, but it will make you stick to a schedule. You won’t want to cancel an appointment with a friend.

2. Set obtainable goals.
Give yourself enough time to reach your goals. Start with easier ones in the beginning so that once you’ve achieve one goal, you’ll push yourself harder to obtain your next.

3. Use your favorite celebrity for motivation.
Who inspires you? Tape their picture on your bathroom mirror to motivate yourself when you get up in the morning. But remember that everyone has different body types, so don’t try to be something you’re not!

4. Relieve stress.
Midterms, papers, and problem sets can add a lot of stress to your life. A good workout can leave you feeling re-charged for the next day. It can also be a nice study break.

5. Reward yourself.
The benefits go beyond feeling more confident about your body. Keep track of your progress and reward yourself when you achieve your goals. Bake a cake, buy new clothes, take a bubble bath, or go to the movies. Treat yourself once in a while—you deserve it!
