Why He’s a Gold Medal Hottie: According to his Florida coach Mike Holloway, he’s “the best athlete you never heard of.” If that’s true, he’s certainly on the athletic radar now: he has gained international attention with a gold medal-winning personal record of 17.70m in the triple jump at the 2011 World Indoor Championships. Not to mention that during the World Outdoor Championships in 2011, Claye skidded to a record that beat even the defending world champ, Great Britain’s Phillips Idowu of Great Britain, becoming the first American man since the 80’s to qualify for both the triple jump and long jump finals.
