Rethink Breast Cancer with the “Your Man Reminder” App

Breast Cancer Awareness month has long since passed (can you believe October was six months ago?) and collegiettes are preoccupied with preparations for final exams, internship stress, and the beautiful spring weather. However, breast cancer doesn’t simply disappear once October ends. Rethink, a Canadian breast cancer charity launched in 2001, recognized the need for year-round breast cancer awareness especially among young women.

Rethink focuses on the under-40 crowd with hopes of, “fostering a new generation of young and influential breast cancer supporters, infusing sass and style into the cause, and most importantly, responding to the unique needs of young (or youngish) women going through it.” Their strategies are attention grabbing and unconventional, but seem to be effectively reaching young women throughout the world. Take for instance, this hilarious ad for Rethink’s “Your Man Reminder” app for smartphones:

Not such a bad idea, right? Who wouldn’t want a hot guy reminding you to give your breasts a little TLC? While the video is fun, silly, and full of eye-candy, it still is able to get across an important message: Women need to be proactive about their breast health. Rethink reports that, “When breast cancer is caught in its earliest stages, the 5-year survival rate for women ages 20-39 is almost 90%. We think that’s a pretty fabulous reason for every young woman to get proactive about her breast health.

Interested in downloading the app? The “Your Man Reminder” app can easily be downloaded for both iPhones and Android phones. The app is customizable in that you can choose which man you want to deliver the reminder, how you want him to pose, and more. No matter which man you pick, he will give you loving attention with messages like “Any guy would be lucky to have you” and “Give your breasts some TLC.” Who wouldn’t love some free flattery from a gorgeous guy?

You can easily tailor your calendar schedule with settings for weekly, monthly, or even surprise reminders. The app includes a “signs and symptoms” tab to help users educate themselves about breast cancer and the importance of early detection. The “Your Man Reminder’s” Facebook sharing capabilities allows users to share when they’ve taken their breast health into their own hands and which hot guy reminded them to check. Not only is this a fun conversation starter among girlfriends, but it will surely remind other women the importance of being proactive when it comes to their breast health.

How can you help the cause? Share this hilarious video with your friends, educate yourself on the Rethink website, download the “Your Man Reminder” app and most importantly, give your breasts some TLC. It may not be October, but breast cancer isn’t seasonal. Educate yourself and raise awareness today.
