Hi collegiettes! I hope you’re all having a fabulous weekend – I know I am! I still absolutely love SELF’s Drop 10 diet and I’m proud to say I’ve been sticking to my workouts. I went grocery shopping Thursday and bought some delicious foods to go with the recipes and such, and I can’t wait to get cooking. Only having fresh and nutritious foods in the fridge has helped with temptation a lot. By not buying my usual stuff (pizza rolls, Pop-Tarts, etc.), I know I’m not going to get off track while at home.
In other news, I must say that I am obsessed with my new gear from New Balance! They sent me matching spandex capris, a tank top, a high-intensity sports bra (which actually holds in the DD’s heyyy) and a pair of lightweight running shoes to help me look fab while losing the “Freshman 15.” Everything is so comfortable and colorful that I can’t wait to go to the gym and show it all off. Shout out to Zico as well for sending me some of their amazing coconut water products! The latte flavor is my favorite and has as much caffeine as an espresso shot at only 120 calories a bottle! I’ve never tried coconut water before, but I’m hooked. They have all kinds of flavors, and I really want to try the pineapple flavor soon (piña colada, anyone?)!
I’m not going to lie to y’all though; sticking to the diet has been difficult the past 24 hours. Last night I celebrated a friend’s 22nd birthday and there was temptation galore. It is HARD to avoid a keg, jello shots and hunch punch when everyone else is aimlessly indulging. But, I came prepared. I brought my own bottle of water mixed with cherry pomegranate Crystal Light and mixed it with vodka for a lighter version of what everyone else was drinking. I plan on avoiding as much alcohol as I can while on the diet plan, but this was a special occasion I couldn’t miss out on.
I’m spending this weekend in Atlanta with friends for the NCAA Big Dance Concert Series (pumped to see Macklemore, Muse and Dave Matthews Band!) and once again, I know temptation is going to be everywhere. Since I don’t have all the delicious foods in my fridge to work with, portion control is going to be key to staying on track with my daily calorie consumption.
