Sometimes, it’s the little, unsuspecting things in life that boost you up the most.
This week has been crazy busy, as I’ve been trying to get back into the swing of things and I’ve hit a couple of school-related roadblocks.
But, on a positive note, I’ve been in the process of spring-cleaning my closet and I just finished yesterday. My goal was to organize everything and get rid of the junk.
However, instead of just getting rid of the junk, (although I did do away with some unnecessary items) I found myself a nice little ego boost among my sundresses and cropped tops.
I tried on clothes that I haven’t worn in months, only to discover that they fit me better than they did when I first purchased them. I think I have this weird talent for buying clothes that don’t really fit me that well. (yeah, I know, I’m a freak) I think I hoped that they’d be inspiration for me to one-day lose weight. But that’s all in the past, as I’m on my way to losing this extra weight.
And, needless to say, seeing myself looking better than I ever have in my clothes is all the validation I need to know that this diet really is working. And more than that, it’s motivation for me to continue losing weight.
On top of that, I’m starting to notice that my everyday clothes are fitting looser and even better – my waist is looking smaller than it ever has and my stomach appears to be flatter too.
For me, it’s really reassuring to physically see that all of the hard work that I’m putting in is truly paying off…even if I didn’t lose any weight this week. And it shows me that the Jumpstart diet really does work!
I think the best part of this experience is hearing people say to me how great I look. I’ve heard from numerous friends that I look like I’ve lost weight and one friend in particular told me that I looked fit, healthy and good.
It’s these small, minor details that push me to continue on this journey. Looking at myself in the mirror and seeing what I like is great and all, but having people notice the changes that I’m noticing makes it all worthwhile.
I’m only three weeks in, but I can’t wait to keep up the Jumpstart diet. I want to continue losing the weight and hearing those compliments, because I really do adore compliments. (As always, who doesn’t?)
