Lose The Freshman 15: Love The Food You Eat

Hey guys!

Did any of you decide to join me and lose weight together? If you went to the gym or ate something healthier than you normally do, then go you!
Yesterday was the first day of trying to lose weight. I’ll be honest, it was a lot easier than I thought it’d be. I’m the kind of girl who thinks everything will be a lot harder than it actually is. I’m also the kind of girl who HATES the word diet. When I used to run track and cross country in high school, my coach used to always tell us that dieting was a horrible thing for a runner since you wouldn’t have any energy to run. I also remember those girls who would only eat salads and teeny tiny portions of food. I always thought dieting and starving came hand in hand. I love food and I was never willing to give up my favorite foods to lose a few pounds. But I can admit that I was wrong, dieting doesn’t have to epically suck.
I actually really love SELF’s Drop10 diet! Did you guys try it? Since I’m on a meal plan at school I can’t do the foods to a T but instead make a slight variation to the ingredients. Yesterday I had a waffle topped with yogurt and fruits; a chicken quesadilla with limited cheese (unfortunately big school doesn’t seem to big on wheat tortillas) and for dinner had a beef taco with black beans and rice. After all that I still had 200 calories to do as I pleased. I used mine for one of those cold Starbucks drinks which claims to have 180 calories.
It was a 1600 calorie day and I’ve never been more full. It’s also helped me realize that while there are A LOT of unhealthy choices everywhere, if you tweak them you can make them a lot healthier. Plus, I’m less hungry during the day, which is wonderful because I don’t have to waste my Big Red Bucks on unhealthy snacks or run to find an open dining hall. Now I’ll be able to save my BRBs for salads (the salads at the ivy room are to die for), beef jerky, and sunflower seeds (I have no clue why I’m so obsessed with jerky and seeds)
Yeah, it takes longer for me to put a meal together and I realize that some days I’ll have to jump from dining hall to dining hall (I have unlimited meals) to make sure I can stay with the diet but I honestly feel that it’s worth it. With that being said, go and sign up for it. It’s completely free and utterly delicious.
