Lose The Freshman 15: Goodbye My Friend

Hey guys,

I guess this is goodbye. Today is the last day of the Lose the Freshman 15 program. I have loved blogging about my journey. I’ve learned so much about myself and how far I can push myself. After I finished running in high school, I forgot what it meant to work had and see your body progress.

When I started the program, I weighed 166 pounds. I’m happy to say that I now weigh 156 pounds. I’ve lost 10 pounds since starting this program eight weeks ago. However this isn’t the end of my weight loss. I plan on losing 36 more pounds by the time I’m done. I’m trying to go to the gym at least six days a week. My lovehandles and my stomach have shrunken. I’m so excited to see these results.

I’m also working on eating a lot healthier. I didn’t eat too healthy back when I ran in high school too. I tried to be healthy but I loved to eat chips, juice, and other sugary things. I thought that as long as I kept running I didn’t have to eat super healthy. During this program, I learned how to use self-control when it came to junk. I’m not given up sweets completely, but I am limiting them to only once a week, on my non-gym day.

I’m actually super excited to have a student gym membership to New York Sports Club. My mom gave it to me as a present. I’m trying to build muscle so I won’t be doing anymore DietBets since muscle weighs more than fat does. Like they say, “Strong is the new skinny”! I’m hoping to be able to run a half marathon, not officially though, just to know that I can. I also want to bench press my own weight and do a pull-up. Oh, I also want a six-pack but that’s not for a long time. My goals are probably not going to be realized for another 6 months or so but I will definitely make them happen before I graduate Cornell.

So I want to do some thank yous. I want to thank Her Campus and SELF Magazine. These two companies are amazing for giving me this awesome opportunity to do this. DietBet was great for forcing me to do something to stay in shape so that I wouldn’t lose money (I like money)! Zico, thank you for the coconut water and goodies. The water is so refreshing and I love drinking it after the gym. New Balance I love you! I love the running sneakers, the sports bra, the clothes! I’ve become a New Balance believer! They were amazing sponsors. But most importantly, if you guys just started reading my blogs or if you have been reading since the beginning, like my mother, I want to thank you. I hope you guys get rid of any unwanted weight. You’re not losing weight, losing means you’re going to find it one day.

Thank you,
Danielle <3
