Lose the Freshman 15: Getting Inspired by Jillian Michaels

This is a sponsored feature. All opinions are 100% from Her Campus.

She may be America’s toughest trainer, but Jillian Michaels is no joke. And neither is her Jumpstart diet plan, her fitness workout plan or any of her exercise videos. This girl means business and she wants for you to mean business, too!

Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred FrontI thought that I was on the right track these past few weeks. I was running daily and strictly following my diet – I was counting my calories, monitoring all of my food intake and staying away from fattening foods.

But, I wasn’t seeing the results that I wanted to see.

In the past three weeks, I’ve only lost a combined total of 2 pounds, and while I’m happy to have lost some weight, I want to lose more. I want to reach my goal weight of 140 pounds, and I’m prepared to make some changes in order to do so.

I think my biggest downfall is running, as I’ve reached a plateau– I’m running every day, but it’s only maintaining my weight, not helping me to lose anymore. So it’s time to revamp my workout routine.

IMG 3730And my first step in doing so was making one small investment in my future self.

Saturday afternoon, I decided to jump on the Jillian Michaels bandwagon (like my fellow bloggers Nikki and Ally have already done!) by purchasing her 30 Day Shred video for just $9 at Target.

The video incorporates a combination of three 6-minute intervals of strength training (3 minutes), cardio (2 minutes) and abs (1 minute) to give you a full-body work out in just 20 minutes. There are three different levels of workouts, but I’ve started on level 1 to give myself the best transition into the video.

And Jillian Michaels says in her video that she guarantees results, as long as you give her the 20 minutes of intensity that the video requires. So that’s what I’ve been doing – giving it my all for just 20 minutes a day.

IMG 3728And while I’m just three days into the video, I can already see the results. I’m sorer than I’ve been in long, long time, but I’m also feeling stronger than I ever have before. I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that purchasing this video was one of the best decisions I’ve made a long time.

And I know that incorporating this workout video into my daily life was the right decision for me because it gives me flexibility to work out at any time of the day, but it also gives me the chance to still get a great work out in on crazy hectic days.

Basically, it’s perfect. And Jillian Michaels has surely got me motivated. She says in her video that you’ve got to want to see changes in your body, and you’ve got to put in the work to do so.

Well, Jillian, I WANT to lose more weight and I’m COMMITTED to making that happen.

IMG 3734So for the next 30 days, I’ll be spending 20 minutes a day with my new best friend Jillian Michaels. I plan to get myself fit, toned and ready for swimsuit season! (Because really, that’s all we girls care about – getting ourselves ready to look good in bathing suits for the summer)

I encourage you all out there looking to tone up and lose more weight to check out a Jillian Michaels video. They’re super cheap and can be found at a number of places. (Target, Amazon, etc.) But more than that, they actually WORK. And best of all, they’re fun, too!

Finally ready to make that weight-loss goal a reality? Jump on board with me and join the Jumpstart Diet so that we can lose weight together! It’s never too late to become the new and improved you.
