Hi again, collegiettes! It’s crazy to think that this journey is already halfway over. When I first started, I significantly underestimated just how many people I would be reaching. Over the past few weeks people I haven’t talked to in months (and even years!) have told me that they read my blog. That is NUTS. I never even used to tell my mom how much I weighed for fear of judgment, and now I’ve shared it to anyone with internet access. Eeek! But I’m not embarrassed by it anymore because I’m not the same person now that I was when I started this blog four weeks ago. This morning I did my final weigh-in for Round 1 of the “Lose the Freshman 15” challenge on DietBet, and I have officially lost a total of 13 pounds since starting the game and 15 pounds since spring break! And I couldn’t have done it on my own. By sharing this with everyone I’ve gained the emotional support I needed to be successful, and I can’t thank you all enough. Y’all are awesome.
Although I’m definitely seeing results, I know I could have worked harder during these past few weeks. So my goal for the second half of this journey and Round 2 of the DietBet challenge is to really commit. It wasn’t easy staying on track the first half and it won’t be easy now. Now that school’s done, I’ll be spending the rest of this journey in New York and Savannah so there will be new challenges to face. But I’m determined to stick with it, and I hope y’all are too. I’m way too excited to share recipes from SELF’s Drop 10 plan with my family (grilling is an essential part of summer!) and to workout with my sisters. Nothing like some good old-fashioned family bonding outdoors!
Don’t forget to sign up for Round 2 of the DietBet challenge ASAP! Winning money for losing weight is an awesome motivator plus it’s great to get advice from other people who understand how difficult it can be to change your lifestyle. Emotional support is the key to success! Follow me on Twitter @ms_mojohnson and let’s keep each other motivated!
Have an amazing week!
