Lose the Freshman 15: Detox Your Life

Hello collegiettes! Hope you are all having a fabulous week so far – and I can say that with the perkiest of smiles on my face because I’M OFFICIALLY HOME! No more papers or tests for at least another four blissful months. My friends are all a tiny bit jealous, but just letting you know U Michigan only has about 2 weeks of Winter break in between semesters, not the standard month – so it evens out in the end. I’ve been giving a lot of thought lately to how I can make this summer as happy as possible, while also accomplishing my Lose the Freshman 15 goal. I realized that the two go hand-in-hand; the key is cleansing yourself of the stressful triggers in your life and focusing more on healthy things that enrich your well-being. Here is how I’m planning to detox my life, and feel free to follow these tips or share your opinion!

Less is more: This is going to be difficult, but one of my goals is choosing to eat whole fruits and vegetables as opposed to ones drizzled in chocolate or nestled in a tortellini of some sorts. Without all the extra fat and chemicals, your body will definitely be thanking you.

Build a library: of all the classic and new movies you have yet to watch, books you have always wanted to read but never got the chance, or make a list of subjects/skills you want to learn. Allow yourself to be inspired. Summer gives you the free time to explore all the things you’ve always wanted to do, and by the end you’ll not only feel accomplished, but like a more cultured, mentally-enriched human being.

Embrace the outdoors: Except when it’s raining, I’m definitely going to make an effort to spend as much time outdoors as possible. Take a swim, go on a bike ride, or walk your dog around the block before Global Warming gets too intense for us to deal with.

Forgive others: I recently read a quote on Pinterest “Forgive others. Not because they deserve forgiveness, but because you deserve peace.” Besides making that my Facebook status, I realized how much positivity is drained from my life based on me having to consciously remember who I’m mad at/not talking to/avoiding etc. If you want to feel happier and emotionally healthier, focus on having a positive attitude and not letting other people’s negativity weigh you down.

Overall, I’m definitely looking forward to embracing a healthier lifestyle this summer, and being closer to my weight loss goal. Don’t forget to keep following the Drop10 Diet, register for the next round of Dietbet, and follow me on Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest. Until next time, bye guys!

With love,
