Of course my first day on SELF’s Jump Start Diet went off with a bang…literally.
And why is that, you ask? Well let me just tell you.
Thanks to an unsuspecting fellow who happened to be leaving a classroom as I entered yesterday morning, I now have a banged, bruised and battered big toe as a pleasant reminder of my first day on the road to losing the freshman 15.
I’ll save you all the eye sore of looking at the horrid thing, and instead show you the wonderful job one of the nurses did at fixing up my foot at the Student Health Care Center on campus.
Sadly, this isn’t some small injury to take lightly, as while I’m officially starting this diet now, I’m also in the midst of training for my first half marathon. And the race is coming up really soon, as in less than two weeks from now soon. As in I’m set to run 13.1 miles on March 6.
But this banged toe sure does put a damper on things, and I’m struck by uncertainty as I wait to determine if I can continue to run with my poor baby toe in the condition that it’s in.
I’m hoping that the doctor will tell me everything is going to be alright and assure me that I can still run my race, because I’d hate to have to call the half marathon off after I’ve been training for it for the past two months.
And even more than that, I’d hate to not be able to exercise now that I’m seriously working towards losing this weight. Keep your fingers crossed for me! And don’t worry, even if I can’t work out for a week or two, it doesn’t mean that I’m going to let this little blip on the radar stop me from achieving my goals!
