Subtle Ways to Incorporate Valentine’s Day into Your Wardrobe

Valentine’s Day is fast-approaching, and the day of love is one to get excited about! While some of us have dates planned with friends or partners, some might just be enjoying the chance to buy themselves chocolate and roses.

Whatever your plans, most of us could use the opportunity to dress up and celebrate the day of love and to just wear something cute as hell! You might not have the occasion or place to wear something OTT for V-Day though! Instead, find some inspiration for a subtle Valentine’s Day look for the office, college, or even a Zoom call.

Go for shades of pink and red

The color of the holiday is a perfect way to spice up your regular outfit for the day or for a special event. Try adding pops of pink or red into your outfit through accessories, a fun top or shoes.

@fashioncanadians nails the look with a splash of red with some fab faux leather leggings and black booties. Something nice and bright for the color of love.

@littlemeinnyc adds a pop of pink with her hot pink miniskirt and pairs it with a low-key neutral top and accessories.

Try a romantic print

The theme of love and hearts is a great way to incorporate the Valentine’s tradition into your outfit, but branch out with some funkier prints for a brighter outfit.

@honeybeephilosophy uses two great Valentines-themed prints with a love heart cardigan and a rose printed skirt, both of which could be suited to a more casual day at college or hanging out with friends to working at the office or going out for date night.

@itsjustjessa‘s heart-print top is an easy way to take your look from casual to more dressed up. Switch out a jean jacket and some blue  jeans for a black moto jacket and black leather look pants to elevate your look with this fun pattern!

Opt for luxe materials in smaller proportions

When you think of dressing fancy, most of us might think of sequins, silk and velvet. These plush, luxe materials are a great way to add some pop to your ‘fits. But, the key is to go small or stick to one luxe fabric. Too many textures or too much of one thing might make your outfit a little harder to incorporate into your everyday scene.

@didierdujour uses a luxe faux fur coat in hot pink to spruce up her outfit, a piece that might be easy to tie in to one of your regular, day-to-day outfits.

@carlicobtq is a showstopper in this silky pink peplum top, something that is a little luxurious and sweet at the same time. What a gorgeous shade of pink!

Hopefully these ideas provided some inspiration on how to vamp it up for Valentine’s Day in a more casual way. Whether you’re attending a socially distanced day event, going from college or work to date night, or if you just want to spread some seasonal cheer through a webcam, spread some love through fashion with these looks. Cupid would definitely approve!
