Topicals’ First-Ever Brand Trip In Bermuda Looked Dreamy (& The Free Products Did, Too)

During the week of Aug. 21, skin care brand Topicals revealed it was hours away from hosting its first-ever brand trip in Bermuda in honor of the brand’s third birthday. Brand ambassadors across the globe joined the company to promote Topical’s mission of reminding each and everyone that perfect skin does not exist, and that you make skin look good.

Influencers that took part in the brand trip were gifted with endless goodies, such as custom robes, pillows, towels, and beach essentials, BREAD Beauty Supply hair products, plus of course, Topicals products. While they were living their best lives in Bermuda, numerous ambassadors, including travel and lifestyle influencer Destiny Owusu, shared GRWM, OOTD, and day-in-the-life videos on the Topicals inaugural brand trip to their social media profiles.

The group did a bunch of activities together while on the trip, like dinners, beach parties, and an intention-setting workshop. I’m kind of bummed I didn’t get an invite, but maybe next time.

Topicals was created by founder and CEO Olamide Olowe in August 2020. Exclusively sold at Sephora and Sephora Canada,  Olowe said she created Topicals because of her numerous chronic skin conditions. In the first episode of Sephora’s web series Why I Made This, Olowe explained that due to experiencing hyperpigmentation at age 12, she wanted to create a brand in which the sole mission was to serve individuals similar to her through inclusive skin care — with all skin types represented.

Since the release of Topicals, Olowe received universal recognition and won numerous awards including Forbes 30 Under 30. She is also the youngest black woman ever to raise $10 million in funding.

This year, Olowe launched the Topicals Mental Health Fund, which gives women-founded organizations funding to help support mental health within BIPOC communities. The fund hopes to continue creating programs that foster safe spaces within the skincare community.
