Top Three Spring Collections from Milan Fashion Week

It feels like just yesterday we were all sporting our “Fashion’s Night Out” tees as a celebratory reminder that “The Fashion Games” have officially begun. Alas, one of our favorite times of the year is almost over. If these precious weeks weren’t hard enough to say goodbye to, Milan’s shows will make this departure even more difficult. In the event you missed out on your favorite Italian designers, allow me to get you up to speed. My lovely tastemakers, check out my top three picks from Milan Fashion Week.

Dolce & Gabbana

Season after season, the prominent fashion house sends ladylike apparel down the runway; however, I’m never sick of it. On the contrary, Stefano and Domenico have a knack for creating a logical transition from the previous season and spicing up each show with innovative silhouettes. If you’re a fashion nerd like me, you’ll realize that autumn’s lace and gold trends have made a comeback. Fortunately, the dynamic duo differentiated this collection from the previous season’s with animated shapes. Extravagant to the extreme? Yes, but I like it. Not to mention this collection welcomed a plethora of prints: stripes, florals, “stained glass”…I’ll take them all!

Versus

Though you’ll usually find me wearing something dark and undeniably urban, I’m well aware that there’s nothing like a punchy pop of color. If Versace’s brainchild has taught us anything this season, it’s that color is in. Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century meets go-go dancer at Versus’ spring collection. Models stomped down the runway in rampant geometric prints and “notice me” sheer pieces. Are we surprised? Donatella is never one to tell us to cover up! I loved how the silhouettes played it safe, allowing the quirky fabrics and prints to take center stage.

Piazza Sempione

As much as I adore offbeat and creative ensembles, I sometimes crave a polished look. Piazza Sempione mixes unconventional colors and prints wth structured silhouettes. This spring collection boasts an array of shirts, suits, dresses, skirts, and pants. Basically, everything you could ever ask for. Style mavens can load on the jewels for a “street style” vibe or channel their inner minimalists with a nude lip. Some say fashion, I say sartorial bliss.
