TOMS Takes On College Campuses!

What do football games, school spirit, and donating to charities all have in common? TOMS Limited-Edition Campus Classics, of course!  Many of us have seen the little blue flags on the backs of our classmates’ shoes as they walk around campus.  Some schools, including my own, have even created clubs exclusively for TOMS lovers!  This fall, the brand is “kicking off” football season by launching their latest line of shoes that allow collegiettes to wear their school spirit on their feet!

If you attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison, University of Arizona, University of Arkansas, Auburn University, Texas A&M, University of Oklahoma or the University of Alabama you’ll soon be able to purchase a pair of TOMS Limited-Edition Campus Classics for $48 at www.toms.com!  (Awesome, right?  The rest of us will have to resort to drawing our college logos onto our shoes with fabric paint).

While you’re cheering on your team you are also supporting the TOMS One for One™ movement, which donates one pair of shoes to a child in need for every pair purchased.  The brand has given over 1,000,000 pairs of new shoes to needy kids in countries like South Africa, Rwanda, Haiti, and even the United States.  By donating shoes to these children, TOMS is also giving them protection from injury and illnesses.  Many of them could potentially suffer from soil-transmitted diseases, and owning shoes allows them to travel to school more easily so they can build better futures for themselves—just like we are doing on our own college campuses!  Never underestimate the power of purchasing!

Mary Kate is a freshman studying journalism at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California.  She is originally from the cold and snowy East Coast, so she completely appreciates the warmer Southern California weather and ocean views from her school.  After earning her degree she hopes to attend graduate school and pursue a career in magazine journalism in Los Angeles or New York.  She enjoys traveling the world, chai lattes, and shopping for things she does not really need.  She is also a Campus Trendsetter for Her Campus Media.  Mary Kate is looking forward to participating in her university's Greek programs, contributing to her school's magazine, and donating her time to nonprofit organizations.
