5 Super Bowl Party Outfit Ideas For If You DGAF About The Actual Game

While I’m a big fan of party prepping for the big game and spending quality time with friends and family, I’m an even bigger fan of dressing up for an occasion. Super Bowl LVII is quickly approaching, and the outfit options need to be narrowed down and laid out. This year’s game will be extra special because Rihanna will be performing for the halftime show. If I’m being honest, I’m planning my outfit for my at-home Rihanna concert — and maybe you are, too — and that’s so fair.

You might be thinking: What if I’m not rooting for a specific team and I don’t want to buy merch? You might just want to go for a good time or you might not want to drop extra cash for expensive sports merch that you’ll probably never wear again or won’t wear as often. That’s the beauty of basic staple pieces! Work with what you’ve got in your closet. You might be missing an old outfit or hidden gem you haven’t worn out in awhile. Here are five go-to game-day outfit ideas whether you’re watching the Super Bowl at home, tailgating, or lucky enough to watch live and in person at the stadium.

Monochrome chic

You can’t possibly choose a more timeless outfit option than a monochromatic one. It’s the perfect solution for game-day-goers who are just there to have a good time. It’s a simple way to stand out and look dressed up — all you have to do is choose a color! Plus, dressing in a monochrome outfit is a super quick and seamless way to put together a look on short notice.

Choose a color you love and pair the dark and light tones together to create your Super Bowl ensemble.  Black or white are the safest options for the people who are “team neutral,” especially if you’re celebrating with friends who are rooting for different teams! This Misha Set from Princess Polly ($34) is a solid option.

the ol’ letterman jacket

If you love streetwear, this one’s for you! A plain letterman jacket, like this PacSun Black Athletic Varsity Jacket ($45), still gives off a sporty vibe without having to commit to a team’s colors. Oversized jackets are all the rage these days. I love layering fitting clothes under oversized jackets for a nice contrast. The star of the outfit should be the letterman jacket, and it can be worn alone as a top as well.

denim on denim

Denim is not only great for everyday wear, but it can also make a great statement outfit. To make this outfit pop, choose similar washes to create a cohesive look. To mix up this look, I recommend wearing contrasting silhouettes. For example, pair an oversized denim jacket — like the Levi’s Ex-Boyfriend Trucker Jacket ($30) — with a denim fitted mini skirt — I’m partial to this one from Cotton On ($40).

athleisure comfort

Comfort is key, even if you’re out and about or watching the game from home. Football games are long, and the after-party is going to have you up all night, so it’s important to wear something that can help you keep up with game day.

These OFFLINE By Aerie Real Me High Waisted Crossover Flare Leggings ($39) and cute outerwear like an AUTOMET Women’s Winter Coats Cropped Puffer Jacket ($33-$42) or hoodie are great for creating an effortless and sporty chic look.

savage x fenty merch

The 2023 Super Bowl halftime show is going to be legendary. Rihanna is performing for the big show, her first live performance since the 2018 Grammys. Rihanna put her music career on an indefinite pause five years ago to focus on her businesses, Fenty Beauty and Savage X Fenty.

Savage X Fenty’s marketing team certainly heard the internet’s excitement loud and clear. The brand released the Game Day Collection to rev up for the star’s show-stopping performance. My favorite pick from the limited-edition collection is the Surprise Tee ($60).
