This Summer’s 5 Must-Have Accessories

We love our summer events, but all the different barbeques and days at the internship can make our wardrobe options feel completely exhausted. But there’s no need to worry! With the help of a few accessories, you can revamp any outfit into a new and trendy look! Here are five of the most “of the moment” accessories to rock throughout this summer.

Cat-Eye Sunglasses

Sunglasses are always an essential summer accessory, but this year it’s all about a pair of flattering cat eye shades to channel that ‘50s glam. “They’re so fun and retro,” says Noelle Cellini, personal stylist and owner of My Best Foot Forward, located in Chicago. “They add a very playful vibe to any outfit and can dress up a simple tee and shorts. For a more ladylike vibe, pair them with a sundress.”

There’s a cat eye style to accentuate every face shape and size, so there’s no reason you shouldn’t pick up a set! For a diamond- or square-shaped face, rock some frames with rounded-out edges. Sharper edges are perfect for a round face. Check out these affordable options.

Wide-brim hat

There are several different varieties of wide-brim hats that are in style this season, and you should definitely own at least one of them. Whether it’s a fedora, sun hat or Panama, wide-brimmed hats are chic, versatile and give you some shade from that hot summer shine.

A pop of neon

One of the biggest trends this summer is a neon accessory that accents your outfit. But it’s important to make sure that you don’t look like the Las Vegas strip when you walk down the street. “Neon is a strong color direction so unless you’re ready to ‘glow,’ focus on a fabulous cross-body bag, lightweight cardigan or scarf, or chic shades,” says stylist Wendy Gow.

Other ways to rock this neon trend are with a pair of wedges or a belt.

Lightweight scarf

A scarf is always great for sprucing up a winter outfit, but it can also create a super stylish summer look. Lightweight scarves are practical and available in almost every pattern and color imaginable. You can find them in floral, striped and even patriotic patterns at reasonable prices.

Stackable rings

Stackable rings will add a punch of personality to your summer outfit. One of the best things about these rings is that they come in all colors, shapes and sizes and therefore can be worked into anyone’s style. Try mixing and matching them to create several unique looks.
