How This Fashion Blogger Styles 5 of Her Favorite Summer Shoe Trends

Hi, my name is Maya, and I’m addicted to shoes. Whether it be a vintage pair of heels or some fresh sneakers, I’m in. Consider me the broke Carrie Bradshaw.

This summer season, the runways have proved that this kind of range is everything. Designers are featuring styles like barely-there heels, animal-print shoes, and platform sandals. There’s something for everyone, so break out of your white sneaker routine and try one of these trends this summer.

Be There or Be Square

Whether it be heels or boots, square-toed shoes are taking over summer ‘19. The unique shape provides a cool silhouette and is sure to dress up any outfit. For a more feminine look, try pairing square-toed shoes with a midi slip dress. If you’re going out, you can throw a pair on with ripped jeans, a graphic tee and a blazer for an equally cool but chic look.

The summer version of the white sneaker is here. Not only do these shoes match everything, but Queen B herself was recently spotted rocking a pair. Need I say more? While these are super versatile, I prefer them styled with a pair of jeans and a loose white button down. Add some gold accessories for a little extra sparkle.

Barely There Heels

Probably the trend seen most on the runway, “floss heels” or “naked heels” are summer’s sexiest shoe. Kendall Jenner recently showcased a pair in the latest Stuart Weitzman campaign. Because these shoes are barely there, make sure they stand out with a more basic outfit like a graphic tee and jeans. You can dress up the look with a blazer and gold accessories.

Platform Everything

The ‘90s are back, and so are the iconic platform Steve Madden sandals. Since they’re black, you can pair them with most outfits, but if sandals aren’t your thing, try platform sneakers. They’re just as versatile and play into the earlier “chunky sneaker” trend. Wear them with a slip dress for some extra height and a dressed down look.

Animal Print

I’m sure you’ve heard of the animal print trend by now, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the same prints are breaking into shoe styles. Whether they’re sneakers, sandals, or loafers, expect to see lots of snakeskin, cow print, and leopard print. Since these shoes are patterned, style with a simple outfit like a white tee, colorful cardigan, and black jeans.

Pro tip from a shoe-holic: you can find thrift most of these styles on apps like Poshmark and Depop. Can’t wait to see how you style these!
