Finally, it’s beginning to look a lot like summer. Either our manifestation finally paid off or we are surprisingly patient people. If you’re like me, the temptation to buy all the warm weather things could not be more real. Inspiration is flowing out my ears and I want to participate in all the summery fashion trends. Although, I’m sure my bank account wouldn’t really appreciate that.

To put your wallet at ease and really prioritize the more practical spring-to-summer pieces to buy this season, I created a guide to help control your purchasing urges. You need a staple lineup to pair with the rest of your wardrobe and I’m sharing the top five warm-weather fashion essentials you need in your closet now.

1. Trench coat

While the warm weather is making an appearance, it necessarily can’t be trusted. That’s exactly why a trench coat is 100% needed in your wardrobe. I bought this Madewell trench coat last year during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and it was the perfect transitional jacket from summer to fall. Its length is perfect to keep warm but doesn’t weigh you down if the sun decides to come out. Since it’s khaki, it’s versatility really brings value to the rest of your wardrobe. You can pair this with anything in your closet and you’ll always be looking detective chic.

2. White pants

White pants have been on the rage, and I’m always down for a little rule breaking. Who says you have to wait till Memorial Day to wear white? White pants are the perfect canvas to really have fun with your styling. Not to mention, it adds that crisp, clean feel that pairs perfectly with everything. In particular, these & Other Stories pants are perfect for us petite ladies. Not only are they super high-waist, but belt trend has been blowing up this season. Really helps accentuate your figure and ultimately proving to be extremely flattering.

3. Button-down blouse

The western trend is here to stay this season and it’s going to be trailblazing into the summer as well. Needless to say, I’m so excited to have found this & Other Stories button-down blouse. It’s sheer fabric really adds a dainty and feminine feel to the piece and the embroidery pairs so well with the exaggerated collar. Layer your favorite bralette underneath, and you instantly have the perfect top to transition from day to night. You really can never go wrong with a neutral button down – it’s just not possible.

4. Statement bag

I’m not usually a huge bag connoisseur, but that’s all I’ve been fixed on this season. From straw bags to ones with funky straps are the perfect way to have some fun without breaking the bank. I’m surprised how affordable this bag is, because the quality is designer level. Not only can you keep your versatility with some neutrals, but the strap really makes a fun statement. Accessories are always the perfect opportunity to dip your toes into seasonal trends, because you can easily incorporate them with what you already have.

5. Western booties

Last but probably my favorite find of the season, cowboy boots. Like I said, western wear is getting wild and sometimes even metallic. I stalked these boots until they went live and I’m so glad I bought them. Because they are both white and silver, it leads them to practically be the most versatile shoe. I guarantee you will see these booties way too often, and I’m 100% not sorry. In fact, I hope you get them as well. They also come in orange, which would be such a fun pop of color! Regardless, a pair of cowboy inspired boots are the perfect shoe to transition into spring-to-summer while still making innovative styling moves.

I know I’m 100% a color fanatic, but I’m beyond obsessed with how this look turned out. Transitioning your wardrobe into summer doesn’t have to be expensive, but strategic. As long as you have these 5 spring-to-summer essentials in your closet, you will be freshly styled every day of the season.
