Spring Fashion Trends from LC Lauren Conrad at Kohls!

Every spring, florals and bright colors are huge reoccurring trends. It’s really no surprise. After the dreariness of winter and swaths of black, gray and navy, everyone is ready to don some bright colors once the flowers start blooming. This spring, we’ve got two other trends that are making a major appearance: Neon and Exotic.

Now I have no issue with neon. It can be really fun to pair a bright pencil skirt with a white t-shirt and some funky enamel jewelry for a sunny look. Exotic looks, on the other hand, give me major pause. I consider my style to be classic, romantic, preppy and feminine. Animal prints, leather and feathers are not typically in my repertoire unless we’re talking about a light feathery skirt with nude leather pumps.

When we were asked by Kohls to showcase the Exotic trend using pieces from their spring line, I wasn’t at first where to go with it. For starters, I have never shopped at Kohls before. I have friends who rave about it but I’m traditionally more of a Marshalls/TJ Maxx/Buffalo Exchange type of girl. Since there’s no Kohls in downtown Boston, I headed over to Kohls.com. I was pleasantly surprised by what I found. Not only is their collection sizable, they’ve got an impressive assortment of celebrity inspired lines including Jennifer Lopez, Lauren Conrad, and Daisy Fuentes. They also have a line with Rock & Republic (what?! I know!) and a line inspired by Elle (<3) editors.

In true fashionista form, I decided to see if I could mix and match two trends together. So I tackled combining spring florals with exotic pieces for a fun look. I found an awesome purple white floral motif sundress with a high-low skirt and a black belt from the LC Lauren Conrad collection. Floral trend? Check. Okay, now onto Exotic. I was so pleased with my initial find that I continued to scour the LC Lauren Conrad collection. I found a great taupe faux-leather cropped motorcycle jacket also from the collection that was on sale for only $53.20! Next I turned to accessories, thinking that a pair of dangly feather earrings would be the perfect way to round out my look.

I searched “feathers” in the jewelry section of Kohls.com and we surprised by how many options there were. I settled on a pair made by MUDD (remember them from middle school? Yeah – they’ve got cute stuff, who knew?).

My entire purchase – dress, jacket, and earrings came in at <$100 and I got free shipping! Quite a steal. I got the pieces this morning and have already gotten compliments from the other girls here at HC headquarters. Taylor has threatened to steal the motorcycle jacket from me twice already! After snapping some quick pics of my look, I loved it so much that I’m still wearing it right now and will wear it out on a date with my boyfriend tonight. Totes perf!
