We’re Calling It: Silk & Corduroy Will Be The Top Trending Combo This Season

Trend alert: in case you missed it, mixing textures is all the rage. Mixing a chunky knit material with a floral pattern is one example of this texture play at work. Summer weather is not over yet, and neither is the cult trend of summer 2019, the silk hair scarf. We know it had its hot moment, but we see it making a huge come back this fall when paired with traditional fall textures, like corduroy, denim, and cashmere. Whether you’re planning on wearing this trend on a date night, out with the girls, or to your internship, it is sure to stand out at any occasion.

If you’re like me and love fall fashion but don’t want to let go of summer just yet, then mixing silk and corduroy will give you the best of both worlds. Break the fourth wall of fashion and style two fabrics that you would never think of wearing together, you might be surprised at how amazing you look. Style is supposed to be personal and unique so let your inner fashionista shine this fall and pair these two unlikely trends together, we guarantee you’ll be turning heads.

How celebs are styling it

First off, we took notes from our favorite celebrities and got some major fashion inspiration. One celebrity that wears silk to many of her public appearances is the one and only, Nicole Kidman.

Taking tips from Nicole Kidman, I styled two of my favorite trends together this fall, silk and corduroy. Mother Nature has been determined to continue summer with some gorgeous sunny days, but it also makes it harder to dress for fall. I styled a dynamic outfit that is a great ensemble for those “cold in the morning- warm in the afternoon” transitional fall days.

How I style the trend

The most important tip to remember when styling outfits for the fall is to dress in layers (you will thank yourself later). I added on a white sweatshirt to this outfit for some extra warmth in the early morning, and late at night. I paired one of my favorite summer tops with corduroy pants, added a silk hair scarf and tied the look together with a pair of white vans and some warm-toned jewelry.

You can get the same top here and rock this one-shoulder top like summer isn’t over yet! Some of the best places to shop for corduroy pants are Forever 21, Pacsun and Everlane.

When I want to style corduroy like a pro I look towards major media icons like the character Jackie from “That ’70s Show” and I take a deep dive into American history from the 1960s and the 1970s hippie eras.

My favorite looks for inspo

In this outfit, corduroy is the main focus and definitely a statement piece. Try matching your top and shoes together when wearing corduroy to bring the whole look together.

Don’t be afraid to experiment with non-traditional colors! I am loving these out of the box pink corduroy pants, they are perfect for fall and add a feminine touch to the trend.
