Rock A Messy Side Braid And Look Like A Celeb!

Have you noticed the side braids that A-list celebs like Ashley Greene and Audrina Patridge have been rocking lately? This is one adorable and playful look that seems to have great staying power because it’s been around for quite some time but still seems to be hot! Plus, it’s an easy look to achieve! Sam Brocato, stylist and owner of the Sam Brocato Salon in New York City, has four easy steps for you to help you create this fun, flirty hairstyle.

Step 1: Start off by pulling all of your hair over to one side of your head. If you want your braid to be behind the ear, Brocato says to make sure you shift the hair in that direction before starting to braid.

Step 2: “If you have straight hair, spritz it with a texture spray like Brocato Back to the Beach to give it a ‘not so finished’ personality,” says Sam. Next, you should smooth the top with your hand and start to braid.  Sam recommends playing around with your look a bit: “A typical three-strand braid works perfectly, but the more you experiment the more personalized the look will be.”

Step 3: Once you have your braid in place, tie the end with an elastic hair tie. Next, hold the braid in the middle with one hand. Then, with your free hand take one or two strands of hair at the end of the braid and pull on these strands of hair. You should now gently push the braid in hand up towards the scalp in one-inch increments. Repeat this a few times and your braid will take on a chunky, disheveled appearance.

Step 4: “Finally, take very small pieces of hair near the end of the braid and pull them free so there is a sort of unfinished, messy look to the braid,” Sam suggests.

Messy on purpose? I think we can deal with that, right ladies?
