This Reversible Skirt Just Changed the Game for Fall Fashion

Now that summer is just about over, the best season of the year is FINALLY around the corner and I honestly can’t contain my excitement. With the fall season comes a whole new wave of fashion trends to try out over the next few months. Animal prints, checkered patterns, corduroy pieces, fur accents…the list of super stylish trends happening right now goes on and on. TBH, it can feel a little overwhelming when you’re trying to nail every trend that comes from the runway and the street. I often feel like once I finally get my hands on an ultra-trendy fashion piece, another trend has taken over my Instagram feed seemingly overnight. You can probably feel my #struggle in being able to physically and financially keep up with this style cycle.

In the midst of my frantic fall fashion shopping spree, I came across a Reversible Skirt from Marleylilly, an online boutique filled with the cutest monogrammed jackets, jewelry, boots and more. Yes, you heard me right, a reversible skirt. I was immediately attracted to its most unique selling point being its ~double side~ and needed to add it to my fall ensemble.

As someone who tends to rely on just a few go-to fashion pieces for an outfit (i.e. my favorite mom jeans from Goodwill and my black Birkenstocks), I already loved the idea of being able to create twice as many potential outfits with just one item. When the skirt arrived in the mail, I was honestly *shook* at how soft and stretchy the material of the skirt was. One side was a plush brown faux suede that felt like a warm blanket on my skin, and the other was a just-as-soft tartan plaid pattern. The waistband was extremely stretchy and flexible, making it so different from any stiff skirt I’ve ever worn in my lifetime.

The skirt also featured on-trend brushed gold buttons that go all the way down the middle, making for a cute accent that pairs perfectly with both the suede and plaid. Plus, they’re snap buttons (!!!) which makes taking the skirt off at the end of the day even easier.

Once I was done raving to all my friends about how unbelievably comfy this skirt was, I decided it was time to take it for a test drive. For styling the suede side, I went for a more neutral look to let the skirt’s texture do the talking. I paired it with a black crop tank top and some classic cat-eye sunglasses. I absolutely loved the way the skirt looks when you’re wearing it — it drapes so perfectly and is just the right length. When it gets chilly in the fall, throw on a jean jacket and some sheer black tights and you’ll be good to go with a chic yet cozy look.

For the plaid side, I decided to pair it with the same black tank top and a light beige corduroy jacket with the black tartan plaid print. I’m totally digging all the primary colors in the plaid, including a cherry red, emerald green and a light blue — it makes it so easy to pair it with really any top or accent piece for the fall. The plaid is also so on-trend for the season, giving major “Clueless” vibes to any outfit you pair it with.

The sheer amount of outfits you could make with just this one skirt is not only economical AF but so convenient for things like weekend getaways or heading back home for the holiday breaks (hooray for ALL the packing space). Plus, this skirt was honestly made for the season — whether it’s a football tailgate during the day or a bonfire with your BFFs at night, the Marleylilly skirt is honestly fit for any fall occasion. I’m going to go ahead and say that this is the fashion piece to have this season. 10/10, fall approved.
