We have to admit that when we first downloaded Pokémon Go, our first thought wasn’t that Charmander would be the inspiration for a beautiful dress. Designer Prabal Gurung, on the other hand, had a vision for the cartoon creatures that none of us could have predicted. When we heard about the Prabal Gurung X Pokémon collection, we were half-expecting the designer to take a more literal approach to the collection in a Moschino-esque fashion. Gurung, however, has proved us wrong with his high-fashion take on the iconic characters.
The collection, which consists of eight unique pieces, is available exclusively at Jeffrey New York starting today. You’ll be able to choose from a wide range of items, including printed dresses, colorful cropped sweaters, and vibrant pencil skirts.
While Gurung’s collection is a stunning and innovative take on the beloved cartoon and video game, you most likely won’t be able to catch ‘em all. Shirts are at the “low” end of the spectrum, retailing for $325, whereas the other garments can cost you anywhere from $895 to $1,795. Ouch. Let’s hope our fave high street stores pick up on the trend soon, so we can all look as adorable as Pikachu and as fire as Charmander.
