ORLY “Dark Shadows” Nail Polishes: Colors for Any Occasion

With next month’s release of Tim Burton’s movie “Dark Shadows,” ORLY nail polish released a line of four colors that represent different elements of the movie. From Mysterious Curse and Decades of Dysfunction to Buried Alive and Grave Mistake, these purple, pink, brown and red shades make great polishes for a variety of occasions.

Decades of Dysfunction: Even though most of the colors better match winter trends, this pale pink is a perfect pastel spring shade. The light blush colored polish will go with nearly every trendy outfit this spring, especially those that feature florals or color blocking. Necause it’s a relatively neutral tone, this polish is also practical for any of the four seasons.

Mysterious Curse: There’s a blue shimmer embedded in this purple polish that makes it look as magical and iridescent on nails as its name suggests. With its double-toned coloration this shade also goes well with a variety of different outfits, although it may be better suited for a night out on the town or a Halloween party.

Buried Alive: At first glance, this color may look like something – to be blunt – that’s better suited for the toilet. However, upon further examination the shade has a glimmer to it that shines through once it’s on your nails and out of the bottle. This shade of brown is a great in between: it’s not as dark as black, but not as weird as some purples. The glittery undertone of this polish also catches the light just so the color pops next to most skin tones.

Grave Mistake: This deep red polish is a sexy color that is the epitome of the phrase “va-va-voom.” The dark shade is great to pair with a date night outfit or to wear if you’re just feeling a little scandalous. Additionally, variations of the color have appeared in numerous magazines, so this is one of the trendier highlights of the ORLY line.

Each of the polishes went on smoothly and dried quickly, with an extremely glossy finish. A topcoat wasn’t even necessary! They’re a good quality line of polishes that last for a long time, making them worth the $8.50 a bottle.
