A whole new style trend is taking over the fashion world: men’s swim trunks. They’ve become the new summer staple (denim shorts, who?). After all, the men’s section is such a glorious and magical place, am I right or am I right? TBH, ignoring gendered sections at stores opens up a whole new world of style staples. Hoodies, crewnecks, and t-shirts aren’t the only items we can snag from their section now.
So in light of another seemingly spontaneous style trend, I decided to experiment with my boyfriend’s collection of swim trunks. Yup, you heard that right — we are stealing our SO’s clothes all summer long. I created four different styles and looks to show you how you can also rock this trend while summer’s still in session. If you’re vacationing on an island, you have to strut in some tropical print shorts! I paired mine with a yellow crop top and mules to set the focus on the swim trunks. My mules have two-inch heels, which really elevate the whole look. This is the perfect ensemble for a brunch by the beach!

Running errands all morning? I’ve got a comfy outfit for you! Incorporating print again, I matched a basic cami and star print trunks together with some Birks. The top is the same color as the stars, while the shoes are in the same navy blue shade. The magenta drawstrings add a little pop of color. Nothing too much but still cute. This simple look is for those days where you’re just getting some groceries or getting gas.

Street style has become so popular within the last few years. I mean, you’re bound to have that try the trend at some point, right? This look I’ve created mashes together the men’s swim trunk and street style trends into one. Wearing a pair of Yeezy Boost 350, I threw on a pair of mint trunks with a gray loose top, which I tucked in. I’m all about groutfits, but the shorts definitely gives the outfit a perfect balance of neutral and bright.

- The Barbie gal

As a huge Barbie fan, my little 4-year-old self would approve of this look. TBH, I can see this being worn to any small occasion — going to the airport, sitting at a bonfire, or running to an impromptu dinner. What I did here is I used a basic cami and a denim jacket to mute the neon pink trunks. For a little fun, I put on animal print sneakers.
