Lacquerous: The “Netflix” of Nail Polish

Finishing a bottle of nail polish is a rare occasion, which it makes it hard to justify splurging on an expensive bottle of the varnish. Now, thanks to a new start-up, considering whether or not to buy that expensive bottle may no longer be an issue.

Fashion gurus Ashlene Land and Liza Kindred partnered together to found Lacquerous, a nail polish sharing service that follows a similar model to Netflix. For a low monthly fee of $18 users can choose up to three bottles of polish from a very high-end selection. The polishes arrive in the mail with prepaid return packaging, making receiving and returning the polish a simple and streamlined process. When users log on they can add polishes they like to a “Lust List” so that the staff can stay on top of keeping the most coveted colors and brands in stock.

The service will carry high-end brands of polish such as NARS, Butter London, and Chanel, which retail for up to $27! With nails becoming increasingly just as important of a component of your outfit as your top, this start-up seems like a dream come true! Questioning the hygiene? The founders cite that it’s no biggie. The chemical cocktail that makes up nail polishes is potent to most fungi and bacteria. In addition, the company ensures that they disinfect the brushes of the polishes between users.

The company sounds like a deal that Collegiettes should not pass up. The only disappointment is that it is currently only invite only. Interested Collegiettes can request an invitation on the company’s website, where they can also learn more about this exciting new company. Lacquerous gives Collegiettes no excuse not to rock some pretty fabulous nails this spring.
