If you’ve been stalking style blogs instead of studying for finals, you’ll know that tall gladiator sandals are a pretty big deal in the fashion world. Not only did they grace the Chanel catwalk ,but even style icons like Mary Kate Olsen and Lindsay Lohan have been spotted sporting these shoes. So what gives? Are knee high gladiator sandals the hottest trend of the summer or should we ditch them ASAP?
Personally, I’m not loving these sandals- they’re hard to style and think of those awkward tan lines! In my humble opinion, shorter gladiator sandals are chicer and more versatile. But if you’re dying to channel your inner Greek goddess, don’t let me stop you! I’m here to help!
First things first: what should you wear these sandals with? Though you may want to throw on a pair of denim cutoffs and call it a day, styling these sandals requires some TLC. A hi-low skirt is on trend and exudes this edgy, ethereal vibe. Even pairing these sandals with a flowing maxi dress is subtle and sophisticated. If you can’t tell already, I think longer hemlines will prevent choppiness; however, play around with different ensembles until you find what fits your personal style.
Romana Fest Sandal (Jeffrey Campbell for Free People- $158): Craving some sandals that are bold and laidback at the same time? Look no further, collegiettes! These shoes combine Jeffrey Campbell’s fearless innovation with Free People’s ethereal aesthetic. Can we say dream come true? Thanks to the black suede, you can even rock these sandals next semester.
Ecote Knee High Gladiator Shoe (Urban Outfitters- $49): These sandals are perfect for the fashionista who’s obsessed with this trend. The bold, “notice me” straps will really pop with a completely black ensemble.
Rhinestone Gladiator Sandals (Victoria’s Secret -$128): Leave it to Victoria’s Secret to create sandals that are subtle and give us a dash of sparkle . The thin, rhinestone-infused straps are both dainty and dramatic. The girlish silhouette would look awesome with florals or lace.
