J.Lo is Glamour’s 2011 Woman of the Year

One of the biggest problems I face as a busy collegiette™ is finding the time to read all of my favorite magazines. No, that’s not a joke. While we can’t read every magazine out there- I feel your pain, collegiettes™- there’s one magazine that we must put on our to-do lists this month: Glamour’s Woman of the Year issue.

Not only does the December issue give us the latest on our favorite topics- fashion, beauty, love, and health, for example- but Jennifer Lopez is gracing the magazine’s cover as Glamour’s 2011 Woman of the Year!

From releasing a new album to conquering a very public split with Marc Anthony, J. Lo’s strength and poise definitely deems her worthy of the title. Not only does J.Lo sport fabulous outfits on the pages of Glamour, but she also opens up about love and fashion:

On Love: “I think I’ve finally learned the biggest lesson of all,” J.Lo tells Glamour. “You’ve got to love yourself first. You’ve got to be OK on your own before you can be OK with somebody else. You’ve got to value yourself and know that you’re worth everything. And until you value yourself enough and love yourself enough to know that, you can’t really have a healthy relationship.”

On Her Kohl’s Line: “The things I liked when I was, like, 16 and in the Bronx—jeans, cut-up T-shirts—I still like,” J.Lo says in her interview. “But I’ve been exposed to so much now from traveling the world and seeing couture clothes. I used all of that when I created my new line for Kohl’s. My style has come from everything, from where I started to where I am today.”

With inspirational responses like these, this profile will definitely be a must-read!

Now let’s talk about our favorite topic: the clothes from J.Lo’s photo shoot. On the magazine’s cover, J. Lo looks sensual in a red bustier (Chloë Sevigny for Opening Ceremony) and a pair of  high waisted pants (Salvatore Ferragamo). To spice up this look, the style mavens at Glamour piled super fierce pieces of jewelry on J.Lo (Salvatore Ferragamo, Michael Kors, Verdura, Chanel Fine Jewelry, Lorraine Schwartz, and Pomellato). Inside the issue, the superstar rocks a bandeau top (Salvatore Ferragamo), a white tank (Enza Costa), a form-fitting skirt (Chris Benz), and the same jewelry as the cover.  I personally love J.Lo and think that she looks absolutely stunning: these outfits celebrate her singlehood without crossing the line.

The coolest thing about these outfits is that they can be collegiette™ chic as well!  To copy J.Lo’s seductive looks, it’s all about super fitted pieces. If you’re not into bustier tops, a fitted long sleeve shirt and a bodycon skirt is a fabulous alternative. Just don’t forget to pile on the jewels!

Write this down in your planners, fashionistas: Glamour’s December issue hits newsstands on November 8th
