What’s your beauty regimen? If you’re a Jersey girl, chances are it involves big hair and impeccably done face paint makeup, but even if you’re a Jersey girl, you’re not immune to the sun and the humidity, both of which are out to get us. Well, it feels better to blame your melting mascara on something, right?
As it turns out, SPF is a part of even Tracy and Anthony’s summer beauty routine.
“A tan is a must have! But no tan is worth ruining your skin,” Tracy wisely explains. “Make sure you throw on sunscreen even if it’s a low number sunscreen like four! Just don’t put baby oil on!”
Baby oil moisturizes the skin, which speeds up the tanning process — but as it offers no SPF protection, can consequentially speed up the burning process.
Anthony and Tracy suggest using SPF and going light on the makeup. Looks like it’s working for Tracy!
SPF isn’t the only method of protecting oneself from the sun. Busy social calendar? Tracy suggests a maxi dress, as “it can come in handy as a coverup for your bathing suit or could be cute for dinner right from the beach or pool.” As for the fashion-conscious, she says that “summer is great for hats. Either a big floppy hat to block the sun or a cut straw fedora to match your sundress.”
Regardless of the heavily-kohled eyes we’ve come to associate with Jersey, Tracy says that make-up is not necessary for the beach. Don’t get too excited though — she notes that “a bare face isn’t right either.”
“Put on some mascara on top and bottom lashes.” she suggests. “It will brighten up your eyes!”
The most important part? “Never know when you’ll run into a cutie on the beach!” she exclaims.
Though the cast members of Jerseylicious are evidently well-versed when it comes to tanning and makeup, the salon owners and hair stylists that make up the show don’t give better advice than hair advice.
“Add some summer highlights — doesn’t have to be a lot — just a few to give a sun-kissed glow,” Anthony says.
Both Tracy and Anthony stress the importance of preventing those locks from drying out. Anthony says that anti-frizz treatments such as GK Hair or Bioionic Kerasmooth are “lifesavers.” If you’re spending the day at the pool or beach, Tracy warns against sun damage.
“The sun makes your hair dry and dead. So while you’re laying out, put some leave-in conditioner or use a treatment in your hair to prevent damage,” she says.
Anthony says that his go-to sun treatment is a DIY spray.
“Put one pint of Lakmé sun care treatment in a spray bottle [with] two pints of water, and keep spraying and combing your hair all day,” he says.
An even easier DIY solution? Putting your hair up, Anthony suggests.
“Ponytails are timeless classics,” he insists.
And for those men who are “bald out in the sun,” as Anthony says — if you’re reading — Anthony’s got tips for you, too: wear a sunscreen on your head with an SPF of at least 30, he says.
Something tells me the cast of Jerseylicious isn’t following their own beauty tips…but maybe that’s just me.
