Jenna Ortega’s Bobcat Haircut Is The Hottest 2023 Trend

As the new year inches closer, everyone’s looking for the newest trends that will dominate in 2023. From skin care, makeup, and outfit trends, nothing seems as important as rocking a new hairdo to ring in the new year, though. And now, Jenna Ortega has blessed us with one cut that’s set to be the next big thing.

Instead of the long, dark locks you see Ortega rock in her iconic show Wednesday on Netflix, Ortega chopped her hair and rocked the popular bobcat cut that’s popping up all over your FYP and Instagram feed. Ortega debuted her short hair era on Instagram on Dec. 17 to her almost 31 million followers, showing off her new layers and thick bangs. In the post, Ortega also rocks a bold makeup look, heavy with black eyeliner — channeling her inner Wednesday Addams.

No caption was needed in this bombshell post, since the comments section spoke for itself. Fans gushed over Ortega with heart and fire emojis. Ortega’s Wednesday costar Hunter Doohan applauded the new look and wrote, “OMG HELP 🔥.”

The dramatic haircut is the opposite of Ortega’s usual go-to look — long hair with a signature middle part and side bangs. But the bobcat cut fits Ortega beautifully, with the feathered layers framing her face to the gods.

For those who are not familiar with the bobcat haircut trend, it’s similar to the wolf haircut (the one you probably saw on Miley Cyrus in 2020 and Gen Z fan fave Billie Eilish in 2021, but a bit shorter (hence the “bob”). It’s styled with waves, several layers, and bangs, mimicking a hotter version of a mullet.

So, why could this bobcat cut be a hit trend in 2023? With the popularity of bouncy waves and curtain bangs in 2022, this could be an alternative option for girlies with short hair who want more volume. If you want a short haircut but have already done the sleek bob haircut, the bobcat cut may be the one for you.
